Overview

A daylit glass concourse for a Victorian station

Deptford Station is one of London's oldest suburban railway stations. Its retrofit called for a modern glazed envelope that would open the concourse to daylight while sitting respectfully against the listed Victorian brickwork. BlueCrest delivered the structural glass curtain wall and the frameless entrance canopy as a complete supply-and-install scope.

The facade is glazed in ClimaGuard Premium2 laminated glass in a 4.4.2 build-up — two 4 mm panes bonded with a twin PVB interlayer and finished with a Premium2 low-emissivity coating. The result is a clear, safe and thermally efficient glass skin: high light transmission for a bright concourse, laminated safety and acoustic damping for a busy transport hub, and low-E performance to control heat loss.
